“Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.”Matthew 12:25 (NIV)
Right now, not only is our nation divided, but sadly so is the church! Many so-called Christians are full of bitterness, unforgiveness, foul language and even cursing other Christians. The offended spirit has invaded the church. Last year’s racial tension, the elections and the corruption that has been exposed has really revealed things in the body of Christ as well. Jesus said that the world would know we are Christians by our love (John 13:35). How can the world see Jesus, if we can’t and/or don’t love, let alone act like we love one another?
These days much of the church is looking more like the devil than Jesus. When we slander and accuse one another we are standing with the accuser of the saints (Revelation 12:10). When we curse each other, we are doing exactly what the world does (Matthew 5:43). When we are angry with one another, we literally have murder in our heart. Jesus even said that if you call someone a fool, you are “in danger of the fire of hell” (Matthew 5:22). Christians are deceiving themselves if they think they can act this way! Judgment begins in the house of God (1 Peter 4:17). Paul is very clear about it, we will reap what we sow. He goes on to say, “Let us not become weary in doing good… especially to those of the household of God” (Galatians 6:7-10).
As darkness seems to be spreading, cry out to God for mercy on His people, for the Church, that is, those who truly know Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Ask God to release a grace to repent of every place we look more like the world or the devil than our Savior. Ask Him to show you anywhere you are standing with the accuser of the saints more than the Intercessor (Hebrews 7:25). Ask God to pour out a supernatural, heaven sent, Jesus-like love, … so that the world will know we are His disciples! Ask Him how you are to walk in that love today!
