“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12 (NIV)

We are in a day where there is a great clash between darkness and light. It is a day where we must intentionally choose to walk in the Spirit, abiding in Christ and not giving into the lies and narrative of the flesh. Paul gives us some clear instructions on this as he tells us to be sincere in our love, hate what is evil, and cling to what is good (v9). He says to be devoted to one another in love and honor one another (v10). He continues saying to not allow our zeal to diminish but to stir up our spiritual fervor even more (v.11).  In this hour we need Holy Spirit empowerment to bear this good and godly fruit in our lives. May you be a person of joy no matter what things look like. A person of patience even in the challenges. And a person who does not stop praying! Your life and prayer really does make a difference!

Here are some ways to keep faithfully praying this month and beyond….

The Light – 174 Henderson Ext., Athens 30605

Senior Pastors from around Athens are encouraged to join us every week to contend in prayer together for revival in our city, state and nation. The second and fourth Thursday is open for all pastors, key leaders in churches and intercessors to join us as well (*). Every week is absolutely amazing, always filled with intensity and a strong sense of God’s presence. Join us if you’re able. Please be praying for your pastors and congregation to catch the fire of the Holy Spirit, and to prepare for the revival that is already breaking forth right here in our city!

Athens House of Prayer
Starting Thursday, May 5 / 7 to 9pm
Phoenix Community – 660 W Broad St., Athens 30601

Over the coming weeks and months, we will begin shaping the Harp & Bowl (Revelation 55:8 and 8:3-5) model of intercessory worship through our Thursday night gatherings. Starting May 5, we will begin having weekly gatherings that will soon begin to expand to other time slots during the week. We will soon be enlisting and training leaders (prayer and worship) then expanding slots. Please join us and be praying with us as our goal is to ultimately see a non-stop intercessory worship covering over our city! Ask the Lord what place He has for you in the Athens House of Prayer!

UGA/Athens Prayer Walk
Saturday, May 7 – 10am to noon
Starts at the Arch

Once again, we are hitting the pavement at UGA (and downtown Athens) as we prayerfully walk the paths, preparing the way for what God is about to do! Whether it is wet or dry, hot or not, we will cry out for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done here! We meet at the Arch at 10am and go from there. Please join us for a beautiful morning with other faith filled followers of Jesus. And note, children are most welcome!

Groups Pastors Prayer
Wednesday, May 18 / 9:30 to 10:30am
Cornerstone – 4680 Lexington Rd., Athens 30605

This is our monthly opportunity for those who lead Groups and Discipleship Ministries in Athens. We come together to share and pray with and for each other. Please use this opportunity to join us in praying for those who lead Groups and Discipleship Ministries across Athens, starting with the ones in your church. Groups are really playing an increasingly important role in discipling our city!

Executive Pastors Prayer
Thursday, May 19 / 9 to 10am
Grace Fellowship – 1120 Malcom Bridge Rd., Bogart, 30622

This is our monthly opportunity for those who “run” churches in Athens to come together to share and pray with and for each other. These mighty yet usually hidden warriors are constantly making huge decisions in a challenging climate they have never been before. The nature of their role is that their job list is never finished. Please pray for them, starting with those who fill this role at your church.

Pastors Breakfast
Thursday, May 19 / 9am
Phoenix Athens – 660 W Broad St., Athens, GA 30601

Here is an opportunity for Senior Pastors to connect and share a breakfast grilled on a flat-iron. We’ll be spending time together as pastors to encourage and pray for each other, and talk about some exciting opportunities for unified ministry this year!

Prayer for the Middle East
Friday, May 20 / noon to 1pm
Living Hope (House of Prayer) – 2150 Lexington Rd., Athens 30605

This is the monthly gathering for prayer warriors to come together to pray for Israel and the nations in the Middle East. This is such a vital time to be standing and interceding with and for Israel! You are most welcome to join in. Even if you can’t be there in person, please take time during the day to pray with them from wherever you may be. God blesses those who pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6)! There is so much power in the prayer of agreement!
