“…instead be filled continually with the Holy Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18b (TPT)
On the Day of Pentecost God rend the heavens and came down upon man in the upper room. The promised Holy Spirit came with a roar of wind, so intense that it was about all those present could take! Fire fell in that room, everyone was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues (Acts 2:1-4). This was the birth of the church and 3000 people came into relationship with Jesus Christ that first day! Then not long afterwards persecution broke out against the new church, specifically the leadership. They gathered and prayed, and the room shook with a violent earthquake! It says they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and went out with “unrestrained boldness” (Acts 4:31 TPT). Those being filled were the same ones who were filled at Pentecost. It is no wonder that Paul tells us to “be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 5:18). The sense here is to be filled to overflowing, continually! We need it!!!
Today as we celebrate Pentecost, are you crying out for the Holy Spirit to fall in your church gathering like He did on that first day? He doesn’t come gently. He rips open the heavens, and blows with a mighty wind, releasing fire, tongues and completely fills those who are seeking Him! He comes to empower and equip us to do the things Jesus said we were to do. Do you want that? Are you seeking more of His presence? The Holy Spirit is God’s promise, a guarantee of the fullness of the kingdom of God! He the bride’s engagement ring, our promise of more to come! Cry out today that His presence would increase over your life, your home, your church, our city and our nation!
“He is given to us like an engagement ring, as the first installment of what’s coming! He is our hope-promise of a future inheritance which seals us until we have all of redemption’s promises and experience complete freedom—all for the supreme glory and honor of God!” Ephesians 1:14 (TPT)
