“And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.” Matthew 13:58 (HCSB)
Though God can do all things, there are certain things He limits Himself, and we are the deciding factor. Jesus couldn’t heal in His own home town because of their unbelief.
There is a spirit of unbelief operating in our nation and many literally cannot see what God is doing right now. Especially those 20 through 30 year olds. No matter what we say, even show them, they won’t/can’t see it!
In so many tribal areas, missionary efforts were often rejected because the messengers came with a word and some rules, but had no demonstration of power. They pushed culture and a white man’s book! But our book is living and active, it’s powerful, sharper than a double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). We are meant to demonstrate the gospel of the kingdom with power. The kingdom of God is not just words but of power and demonstration (1 Corinthians 2:4, 4:20). Power is a necessary part of the kingdom of God.
Jesus told us that signs will accompany those who believe (Mark 16:17). Yes, we have be emasculated! We have been taught a lie that has severely handicapped us in battling the forces of darkness. What a strategic thing for the enemy to do to get God’s kids to believe they don’t have the power of the Holy Spirit. We’ve been battling with our eyes closed and a hand tied behind our backs!
Nevertheless, we are told that we have all authority over the enemy, in Jesus’ name…
“Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.” (Luke 10:19 – AMP)
Btw the way, His name is above EVERY NAME! (Philippians 2:1-11). He is the head and we are His body, far above all powers, principalities and every dark demonic being (Ephesians 1:18-23). Jesus told us that we would do even greater things than He did. He healed, cast out demons, raised the dead, multiplied food, calmed storms, walked on water, etc. After His resurrection He walked through walls, and flew to heaven! Are you earnestly asking God to release a faith to do these greater things in you, your pastor, church and across our city?
Pray for a visible validation of God’s kingdom in our city! Pray that people would not only go out and evangelize, but they would demonstrate the very gospel they preach with power – signs, wonders and miracles! Pray specifically for those you know who are ensnared in unbelief. Lift them up by name asking God to remove the veil that blinds them. Ask Him to increase faith that will release the greater works in you, your pastor, your church and across our city!
