“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (HCSB)

We are warned of doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1). While there are literal dark secrets of Satan that we should stay away from, they are usually easy to see. Though granted, these dark secrets are becoming more normalized in our culture through deceived voices like Taylor Swift. Paul said we should not be unaware of the devil’s schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11), but he also warned us of getting too close to Satan’s secrets (Revelation 2:24). We need to run from concerts, songs and people who are preaching a gospel contrary to Jesus! Yet what is more dangerous are those doctrines that are cloaked in deception. They are deceiving, hidden, and masqueraded. If it was obvious, we’d all yell “foul!” That is why it is so dangerous.

One of these dangerous doctrines is the denying of the Word of God as our authority. The Word of God is eternal, it stands firm (Psalm 119:89). Last time I checked, eternal means forever, doesn’t change, or adapt to stay “relevant” for our times! So many problems, and ultimately doctrines of demons arise when the Word is watered down, unhitched, and/or denied as the inspired or God breathed Word.

Cessationism is another doctrine of demons. Yep, it is evil. Cessationism says that the Holy Spirit doesn’t do what He used to do in the early days of the Church because we now have the Bible. They say that once the perfect was complete we no longer needed the Holy Spirit’s intense involvement. They define the perfect as the Bible. Ironically, they get all this from the love chapter…

“Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.” (1 Corinthians 13:8-10 / ESV)

This so called “partial” has been identified as the manifestations of the Holy Spirit! Crazy thing is that some of those who hold it often call “Spirit filled believers” deceived and even demonized! Some even say that “tongues are of the devil!” Of course, that is what the enemy does, accusing others of exactly what he is guilty of!

Please do your research into cessationism. Dig deep into it. When it started, and who was behind it, who financed it, and ask “why?” How were the Freemasons involved in it? Btw, Scofield, who’s Bible rocked the world, wasn’t who he said he was! Please look outside your “cessationism” supporting resources, as they will simply look at it with their own “rose colored glasses!”

The hyper grace movement is yet another dangerous doctrine of demons. Affirming sin is never Biblical doctrine! God’s love for someone is not the same as Him being pleased with them. Again, God’s Word has not changed just because culture has. God does not “soften” His Word to be compassionate. Sin is sin! It always has been and always will. The Lord may love the sinner, but He never intends him to stay that way. And it is not “hate” speech to declare what the Bible says, like homosexuality is sin, just as adultery is sin! Divorce is sin! God’s moral laws have not changed. It is still wrong to lie, though you’d never know by how much lying is going on today. It is still wrong to murder, rape, and cut off the heads of babies, let alone abort them because they are not convenient. The Bible is still our truth and source for making life decisions. We don’t get to pick and choose what we want to believe in the Bible! Sadly, many are doing just that today when we affirm, accept and approve what God calls as sin!

It is time to stand on the full Word of God and all that the Holy Spirit brings. In this hour we need the Bible and the Holy Spirit, not a watered-down version of either of them! The Word and the Holy Spirit are essential to engage in and be victorious over the enemy!

Ask God to awaken in you a greater love for His Word as your authority for life and living. Ask Him to show you any place where cessationism has influenced you and ask Him for the truth to set you free. Declare that you desire all of the Holy Spirit today. Ask Him for a fresh filling and baptism of the Holy Spirit, and the release of all the gifts He intends for you. And ask Him to show you any place where you have affirmed sin in anyway. Ask Him to grant you the grace to hate sin, but to love the sinner. Pray all this for your pastor. Cry out for a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to blow over your church and the true Church in our city!
