“You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14 (NIV)

We are a chosen, not rejected people! We are alive, not a dead church! We are filled with the Holy Spirit! We are called to be different because we are different! We are no longer slaves of fear and sin! God says we are a holy priesthood, a spiritual house (1 Peter 2:4-5), that though rejected by men, we are accepted by God! We are the light of the world, meant to shine like a city on the hill. Unless we shine, darkness will prevail. Our light is not meant to be covered, canceled, silenced, or censored! Right now, darkness is not growing nor is it winning. It only looks that way! Darkness only exists in the absence of light. Darkness must flee when light shows up. It is impossible for darkness to overcome light. Darkness can only work when light is not shining.

And God is arousing the church from a slumber to begin to understand who we are. This light is meant to penetrate our communities. The light of God’s glory is coming (Isaiah 60:1-2). May we awaken to who we are, to shine and displace the darkness covering the earth, starting with our own city. Ask God to show you where your light has been covered, where you have hidden who you really are! Speak it out loud, “I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!” Let it become your mantra! Declare “darkness has to flee!” Ask God to increase the light of His presence in His people across our city, for them to rise up and shine. May your church become a bright beacon of light for the nations to see!!!
