“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 (ESV)
Recently I heard a shocking and revealing statistic that 80% of Christians don’t read their bibles, at all! If that is even remotely true, we’ve got some huge problems at hand!!!
If the church isn’t in His word, it is no wonder there is such a high degree of deception in the church. Jesus said that even the elect would be deceived, if that was possible (Matthew 24:24). Deception is totally possible when one doesn’t know the truth! It is no wonder people are seeking churches and preachers who will tickle their ears (2 Timothy 4:3-4), making them happy and better versions of themselves instead holy and more like Jesus. No wonder believers don’t have an understanding what God says about murdering babies or worshiping other gods! Btw, just check out the Ten Commandments! No wonder there is such confusion over homosexuality, immorality and even pedophilia. And of course, the enemy blows it out of proportion by confusing the sin which God hates and the sinner, who God loves! The Bible is completely clear about those issues! No wonder there is such a confusion over absolute truth. If believers do not read, study, marinate in and apply the scriptures on a daily basis, they are wandering in the darkness. Jesus, the Word of God become flesh, is the Light and the only way to the Father. It is no wonder that many believers actually think there are many ways to heaven!
Cry out for God to awaken His people to the importance of His Word. Ask Him to stir a hunger for the true meat of the Bible in your life, in your church and across our city. Ask God for a grace to get into His word daily to meditate upon it, study and even memorize it! Ask God to draw people around you to do the same. Ask God to anoint true Bible teachers across our city to rise up and teach the full word of God, all of it, without compromise! Ask Him to draw people into these Bible studies with an intense desire to learn and apply what the Book says!
