“He will defy the Most High and oppress the holy people of the Most High.” Daniel 7:25 (NLT)
The term “Fog of War” represents the “uncertainty in situational awareness experienced by participants in military operations” (this same definition was found in many sources). It encompasses the uncertainty of one’s own capability, our adversary’s capability and/or the enemy’s intent in the midst of an engagement, operation or campaign. It implies a confusion or fogginess of what one is doing, or is meant to do, or why we’re supposed to do it. There is a blindness to the involvement of the enemy, not knowing who he is, where he is, what he’s up to and why does it even matter. This concept is totally relevant to the spiritual battle we are now engaged in!
Daniel 7:25 talks about the antichrist oppressing the saints of the Most High God. Some translations say the he will wear them out! That is exactly what the devil is doing right now. There is a real sense of the fog of war in the church. So many pastors, leaders and followers of Christ feel worn down! Our enemy is relentlessly trying to kill, steal and destroy everything of God. It feels like we are under siege on every side, and many are simply losing the will to resist any longer. And sadly, many pastors are stepping out of ministry. Scores of believers are choosing to walk by the beat of our culture instead of chasing after the heartbeat of God. So many churches have become havens of cultural acceptance, more than fighting to stand on biblical values.
Ask the Lord to blow the fog of war away from you. Ask Him to reveal any place you have allowed confusion, worry and fear a foothold to occupy in your heart. Repent of it and ask Him to fill you with clarity, boldness and courage to fight the good fight of faith in this hour (1 Timothy 6:12). Ask the Holy Spirit to blow strongly over your pastor, church leadership and congregation. Cry out for your church to be filled, empowered and led by the Holy Spirit and that every place the enemy has crept in, and/or encamped in would be exposed and removed. Cry out for God to cause the fog of war over the churches in our city to be dissolved, and replaced with sunshine of His face as we engage in the battle that is before is. Ask God to show each follower of Christ and church across Athens their role in the coming revival/harvest. Ask the Holy Spirit to remind the Church why we are here and what we are supposed to do (Matthew 28:18-20). Ask God to reveal what our enemy is up to in our city, and to renew our strength to resist Him (James 4:7). And thank the Lord that He is not done with America, that our greatest days are yet to come!!!
