“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” James 5:16 (HCSB)

Not long ago, I was in a green room prayer time before the first service at Athens Church. After a time of praying for things happening that day at AC Sean Seay closed the prayer with petitions and blessings for his pastor friends in other churches across Athens. It was beautiful, and a very tangible message to the 40 leaders in the room.

It is vital in this hour to pray for one another. Yesterday we had Pastors Prayer, an opportunity for Senior Pastors from across our city to pray for and with one another! As it is summer, quite a few were missing, but let me tell you, the prayer was deep, the sharing was raw and real, and we covered one another as well as others not in the room! James clearly tells us to confess our sins and pray for each other! When we do this it is a powerful and beautiful thing, especially when it’s pastors!

Let me encourage you to intentionally pray not only for your pastor and church, but for other pastors and churches in our city as well. When a pastor or church leader comes to your mind, use this as an opportunity to intercede on their behalf. Maybe pick a specific day of the week and focus prayer for these churches.
