“Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” Isaiah 42:9 (ESV)

Yes, it is truly a blessed new year! You might be thinking, “isn’t that a bit premature?” As of last night (September 6 at sunset), we have stepped into Rosh Hashanah, the Hebraic new year. It is officially 5782! Whew! We have suddenly stepped into a new year. So think about it, we can actually get a head start for 2022! Many say it is going to be a year of double portion, of twins. This is the day we have been waiting and preparing for all our lives! Take hold of it. Declare that the old has passed away and the new has come. There are “suddenlies” just waiting to happen. Jesus said “Look I am making everything new” (Revelation 21:5 – NLT). I am not implying this is where we are in the eternal timeline (at the end of history), but I am saying that we are on the verge of somewhere we have never been before. Get ready, don’t hold back, and dive in wholeheartedly. Don’t let the enemy subdue you with fear and doubt. Clothe yourself completely in your Father’s armor, and go forth in victory!

Ask the Lord to wash off you the residue of this previous season! We have all picked up some extra baggage during the past couple years. Invite the Lord to take these burdens off of you. Peter says cast your cares on the Lord because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Ask Him to show you everything you wants you to leave behind as you step into this new year! Be ruthless in your sifting and shifting. Some things that were good, even necessary in the previous season now have become weights slowing you down. Ask the Lord to clothe you in His armor for this day of battle. Ask Him to sharpen your weapons, and polish your shield. Ask Him to clean out your ears so you can hear the voice of the Lover of your soul, the Commander and Chief of the Host of Heaven. Make sure you are properly aligned where you need to be. Are there relationships you are clinging to that need to be let go? This is the year where you need to be around people of like-heartedness. Are there tasks you are doing that are now simply non-productive and need to be jettisoned? Ask the Lord to prune you severely so that you can bear the harvest that He desires in this new season. Ask the Lord for a grace for you to dream again in this new day! Thank Him for the crazy awesome victories that are just on the other side of the page that is now turning!!!
