“Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 (NIV)
As Jesus instructed us to pray that His Father’s will would be done and His kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven, it is evident that our prayers are pivotal in bringing that about. Jesus would not have told us to pray that way if it didn’t matter. In fact, it is the first thing He says to pray for, that is after acknowledging the Father’s holiness! We are responsible for praying until we see these things of heaven released on earth. Isaiah prophesied that the role of intercessors is to pray day and night until God fulfills His promises (Isaiah 62:6-7). Here are a few of God’s promises and desires…
It is God’s will that all of Athens be saved! Yep, we are told that God desires none to perish (1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9). In fact, He loves the world so much that He gave His only Son for us (John 3:16).
It is God’s will that the church walk and live in a place of unity (Ephesians 4:3), honoring each of the various parts (Romans 12:10), and submitting to one another (Ephesians 4:21). In fact, He is actually waiting for us to step into this unity so that He can bless His church, tremendously (Psalm 133) and reveal to the world His glory and the reality of who He is (John 17:22-23).
It is God’s will for His people to worship Him, and to be living holy sacrifices on His altar (Romans 12:1-2). God literally inhabits the worship of His kids (Psalm 22:3). He longs to increase His presence, and one requirement of that is worship! King David established non-stop worship around the ark of the covenant, which was God’s presence. This “Tent of David” lasted for more that three decades and released God presence and blessing over Israel. God desires day and night worship in Athens!
These are just three of His promises, His desires, His will, that are just waiting to be done. He is longing for heaven to be released on earth. Search the scriptures for His promises, for His will, and begin to ask, and keep asking, seek and keep seeking, knock and keep knocking (Matthew 7:7-8), for heaven will be a reality on earth! That is God’s desire!!!
“Father, release Your ways, Your will and Your kingdom on earth. Let it be in Athens, as it is in heaven!”
