And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15 (NLT)

Hell is not just a metaphor or parable. It is a reality that Jesus Himself spoke much about. Yet 45% of new pastors coming out of seminary do not believe that there is a literal hell. If this is what pastors believe, what about those in churches, let alone in our community? It is obvious that hell is not being preached about in most churches.

Please take some time over the coming days to consider the reality of hell. Do a word search on it and see what the Bible actually has to say about hell (lake of fire, judgment) and those who do not acknowledge Jesus as Savior and Lord. May this stir you to “preach the Gospel always and when necessary use words” (St Francis of Assisi). Pray that pastors in our city would not be afraid to preach about hell (starting with your own).

Here are a few passages on hell and the lake of fire…

Matthew 5:22, 29-30, 7:13, 10:28, 18:9, 23:33, 25:30&46
Luke 12:5, 16:23
Revelation 20:11-15
