“And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people…” Joel 2:28a (NIV)
The days that Joel prophesied into were perilous times. “Locust” had eaten everything, even the bark off the trees. The nation was ravaged, yet the people drew near to God. God told them to “return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning” (2:12). He called them to blow the trumpet, declare a fast, call a sacred assembly and consecrate their hearts. And as they did, He responded with compassion and power. He said He is jealous for the land and His people. And in this context, He told us of a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit was coming! Are we in that day?
Over the past several months, millions in our nation (and more across the globe) have prayed, fasted, gathered in solemn assemblies, and consecrated themselves, repented, … unlike ever in our lifetimes. Please remember Joel’s prophetic promise of the outpouring came in the middle of national calamity. Our nation is being ravaged! The hand of God has intervened in the land before, and He can do it again. The level of God’s tangible presence today has increased (but of course the lying media won’t tell you that). Like Isaiah says, though a deep thick darkness covers the earth, the LORD is rising upon us and His glory is appearing over us (60:2). We have and continue to pray, and to believe! God is not done, He is not late, and His glory is rising over us. Take time to praise Him, thank Him and worship Him for what He is doing and about ready to do. Ask God to prepare you, to give you eyes to see and a mind to understand what He is doing.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NLT)
