Have you ever been near a loud noise that temporarily caused you to lose hearing and/or with ringing in your ear? Like having a gun fired right over your shoulder, or a thunder clap right above you? Many people have ringing in their ears for other reasons.

Tinnitus is the ringing in one’s ears, though not really in the ears. It comes from the brain. I have had a mild case of that for years. Then as this year started I got the flu or something that led to a ‘gnarly’ infection in my left ear. At one point I lost my hearing from it. Though I’ve recovered, I now have some serious ringing in that ear. My ENT says if I ignore it, that is, don’t give it any attention it will ultimately go away! Huh! Yes, he literally said that! Wow, such spiritual implications! Resist the devil and gaze upon Jesus!

It is said that what we think about literally become structures in our mind. The more we listen to it, focus on it, the deeper the neuro-pathways become. Ultimately, we are taken captive by that thought (I recently heard Pastor Scott Sheppard of Cornerstone so clearly speak on this).

The sounds of war have been pounded all around us these past few years. It is easy to let it become our focal point. Everyone has been touched by Covid, the lockdowns and restrictions, the toxic jabs that were forced on us, the illegitimate government destroying our nation, the ‘newcomers’ invading our cities, the perversion and even pedophilia becoming normalized, the wars and rumors of wars, and now the protestors and paid rioters taking over our college campuses. The billions upon billions sent to Ukraine while our border is left wide open for terrorists, gangs, human trafficking and drugs to pass through. There is more than enough evidence to prove the election was stolen. Even here in Georgia there is hard and loud evidence showing it to be fraudulent. And it may still get overturned! And the sham Trump trials that seem to be allowed while others apparently walk free of their crimes. The enemy is blatantly busy. And our ears are ringing from the sound of war.

Nevertheless, instead of listening to the ringing, fix your attention upon Jesus (Hebrews 12:2). Make Him the ‘one thing’ you seek and long for (Psalm 27:4). Choose to trust Him with all your heart and not lean upon what you see with your eyes, hear with your ears or understand with your mind (Proverbs 3:5-6). It’s time to seriously behold the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world (John 1:29).

No wonder Paul said to fix our thoughts on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praise worthy (Philippians 4:8-9). Jesus is exactly what we are to fix our eyes and thoughts upon!

“Jesus, You are the author and perfector of my faith. Your Father is always at work (John 5:19), even in this dark hour. Revival is coming and Your glory will fill the earth (Isaiah 60:2, Habakkuk 2:14). Where the enemy intends evil, You will turn it to good (Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28). Jesus I choose to fix my eyes on You. I choose to behold You, to gaze at Your beauty and glory, and to be transformed by doing so (2 Corinthians 3:17). May Your face, Your beauty and Your glory be the thing I seek in this hour! In the light of Your glory all other noises become so thin and weak. Shine out of the darkness and release the knowledge of the glory of God through the light of Your face upon me, my family, my church, our city and nation (2 Corinthians 4:6). May You increase and everything else decrease!”
