But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18 (HCSB)

Peter’s words about growing and increasing imply we have a choice in the matter! I want to continue to grow in grace and to increase in my knowledge (intellectually, emotionally and intimately) until I am standing before Him, face to face! I want to squeeze out of this life as much of Him as I can. I want to know Him as deeply as possible before I enter eternity to be with Him. But this must be intentional. The moment I choose to cruise, I plateau and cease growing. In fact, when I cruise, I actually lose my secure footing (2 Peter 3:17).

Make it your life’s quest to press into Him more and more each day, that next week, next year, next decade… you know Him better! Ask Him for a child-like faith to seek Him all the days of your life. Ask Him to awaken awe in you. Pray this for your pastor as well. That every day he would experience God’s fresh mercy, as he grows in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
