“When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. He laid His right hand on me and said, ‘Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last, and the Living One. I was dead, but look—I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.’” Revelation 1:17-18 (HCSB)

The Jesus the world knew 2000 years ago, is not the full picture of who He actually is or was even at that time. But sadly, too many people have an incomplete picture of who He is. Well, the reality is, we all do! John, the One whom Jesus loved (John 13:23), obviously had a really close relationship with the physical Jesus. But when he encountered Him in his heavenly vision, he was totally undone and fell on his face as if he was dead (Revelation 1:17).

The Book of Revelation is about Jesus. Yes, there are end times things in it, and some scary scenes! But the very first line in this amazing book says it’s “the revelation of Jesus.” Yeshua, that is Jesus’ Hebrew name, truly is the name above all names (Philippians 2:9-11). At His name, someday every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord. There is no other name by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12).

Jesus alone is the way, the truth and the life. There is no other way to the Father, that is, to gain entrance into heaven, but through Him (John 14:6).

Jesus will one day, perhaps soon, restore all things (Acts 3:21). He is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, the ruler of the kings of the earth (Revelation 1:5).

One “like a son of man” described in Daniel (7:13), Jesus is dressed in a robe reaching down to His feet… head and hair white as snow, eyes like a blazing fire, feet like bronze burning in the fire. His voice is like the sound of roaring rushing waters. In His right hand He holds the seven stars and out of His mouth comes a sharp two-edged sword. His face shines like the sun! (Revelation 1:13-16).

Jesus is the Word of God become flesh (John 1:14, Revelation 19:13). Jesus is He who was, and is and is to come. The Almighty! He was dead but now alive, forever (Revelation 1:8). He is the Light of the world (John 8:12). He is the Prince of Peace, Emanuel, God with us (Isaiah 7:14). He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Revelation 19:16). He is the Alpha & Omega, the First & Last and the Beginning & the End (Revelation 22:13). He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He is the Lamb who took away the sins of the world and is worthy to open the scroll (Revelation 5:5-6). He is the Suffering Servant (Isaiah 53:1-9), the Son of God (John 1:14, 3:16) and the Son of Man (Matthew 20:28). He is the Vine (John 15:1), the Firstborn (Colossians 1:15, Psalm 89:27), the Rider of the White horse (Revelation 19:11-16). He is Groom (Revelation 19:7), the Messiah (John 4:25-26), and the Judge (Revelation 19:11, Matthew 25:31, Daniel 7:13-14). He is Wonderful, Counselor, Everlasting, Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government there will be no end (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Speak the names of Jesus, out loud. Proclaim them over our city. Declare “this is our King and Lord!” Declare it over your church, your home, your family, your life!

Cry out that you would see Him rightly, and more clearly. Cry out for the removal of veil that keeps people from seeing who Jesus really is! When they see Him as such, there is only one response, and that is, fall down and worship Him as John did! Cry out that all of Athens would see Jesus. Cry out for every lie, every stronghold, every lofty argument, every speculation that stands against the knowledge of who God really is, would torn down, demolished and completely removed across our city! Cry out for Athens to be saved, and lit on fire for Jesus!

It is only through Jesus that we are truly free. And whom he Son set free is free indeed (John 8:36)! Praise Him!!!
