“Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years!” James 5:17 (NLT)
We’re told that Elijah was just like us. So often we think he was super human, with uber skills and no doubts. But the Bible says he was REALLY just like us!!! But what set him apart was that he prayed, and when he prayed fervently, God released the answers. Elijah had proclaimed that it would not rain until he said it would. He didn’t just assume the rains would come, but he prayed hard once he announced it is was on its way (1 Kings 18:41-26). He knew he had to pray for what he prophesied about. Most prophecy requires prayer. I just wonder how many prophetic words never get birthed simply because we didn’t pray! If Elijah the prophet had to pray regarding the word he spoke, how much more do we need to pray, both for the things God says to us and what He prophesies through others. 2022 is going to see great battles, and our prayers will be what determines the outcome. Elijah had to pray, and so do we, especially in this hour!
Ask God how to pray for the prophetic words that He has released over you, your church, our city and nation. Take these words and Like Elijah fervently pray until God releases the answer.
