“And God said, ‘Let there be light,” and there was light.’” Genesis 1:3 (ESV)

People who study the Bible understand a principle called Law of First Mention. This says that the first time something appears in the Bible we should take note, as it is very important. Such as God’s first recorded words found in Genesis. Literally God said “light be!” As God is light He was actually imparting Himself into His creation. In the first chapter of John we discover that Jesus, the Word of God is life and light itself. When light comes, darkness flees at 186,000 miles per second. Darkness cannot overcome light. In fact, darkness only exists because of the absence of light. Though darkness covers the people, the light is coming, and it will happen fast (Isaiah 60:1-2)! We are on the verge of a speed of light suddenly!

Thank the Lord for His promise of light coming into our world and dispersing the darkness. Thank Him for the suddenly that is about to come upon us. Ask Him to prepare you, even now, to live in the light, to walk in the light and to allow yourself to expose the darkness through the light in you! Ask Him to allow His light to penetrate all darkness in your church, and across our city!
