“Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38 (NIV)

Is there a correlation between America having been so blessed over the years and it being the most generous nation? I believe so! There is a spiritual principle that as we give, we receive back. As we pour out, it is poured out to us. And this isn’t just for those who follow Christ. It is a principle that impacts humanity. I have heard of unchurched people, full on heathens, making it a point to tithe their money, and watching God bless it! Crazy, I know!!! But generosity, especially tithing is a law of the universe like gravity!

And the tithe is not beyond anyone. If you made a dime, you got a penny to give. If you made a dollar, you have a dime, and so on. The time to start tithing was yesterday, because the tithe is like a seed that we plant. And these WILL bring forth a harvest of blessing. The Scriptures are clear, tithing opens up the windows of heaven. It allows God to touch your finances, causing the devourer to let go. And as I said, tithing releases His blessing, even to unbelievers. And tithing is the only command that comes with the promise from God who said He will rebuke the devourer.

It has more to do with obedience than sacrifice. Yes, God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). And God will bless it. But if you want God’s full blessing be sure you are tithing all that you make! That is His promise, not mine!!! And I wonder if tithing also releases a greater effectiveness in prayer, after all, tithing is an expression of a righteous person and we are told that the prayers of such a person are powerful and effective! (James 5:16). And of course, it requires us to be obedient to be such a person! Take time to meditate on the passage below, and see what the Lord says to you about it! Do whatever you need to do to become a tither!

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. And thereby put Me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the Lord of hosts. Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts.” Malachi 3:10-12 (ESV)
