“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded, and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be asked.” Luke 12:48b (NIV)

In that same passage Jesus says that if someone who doesn’t know, but does something wrong, their punishment will be lighter. Yet on the other hand, when someone has been given much, much is expected, and when they have been entrusted with much, much more is required! In other words, God holds us accountable for what we have been given, and that includes every blessing He has bestowed upon us.

This same principle is applied to larger entities such as nations. We have been a very blessed nation. God’s favor has been on us. Four hundred years ago, those who first arrived here dedicated this land to the Lord and committed themselves to one another. And for many years, our nation has been a leader in taking righteousness and the gospel across the globe. But in so many ways, we have turned from the Lord. The Lord is really not the Lord over this nation anymore! How can we expect His blessing and protection when we have turned from His ways?

Since the 1970s our nation is responsible for over 60 million babies who were executed before they ever had the opportunity to step into their destiny. Their blood is on our hands. But our accountability goes even deeper than that. As a world leader, when we legalized abortion 50 years ago, nations around the globe followed our lead. As a result, approximately 1 billion lives were wiped off the planet, children, the most innocent, have been ripped from the womb, and we influenced that! Blood is on our hands, not just for our own nation’s abortions but for those who were impacted by our leadership. This should break our hearts. This should cause us to fall on our knees and cry out for mercy from God. But we have become numb to it, and our minds can’t even get around the astronomical number. Just as our personal sin is so great that we need a Savior, so is our national sin. The USA needs to repent and turn back to God, starting with the church. There are still so many in the church who don’t see this as a problem, that a woman has a right to her own body, and that the life being woven in her body is simply flesh material! In the midst of all that is going on in our nation right now, please cry out for a brokenness over the sin of our land!
