“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.” Matthew 5:13 (ESV)
It is simply amazing how quiet people are, especially the church, in regards to the evil and darkness that is now so pervasive in our nation! Where’s the outcry? Are they afraid of the intimidation or of not being seen in a favorable light by the world? Maybe they have intentionally been compromised, as wolves in sheep clothes. But wait, when was the church ever meant to appease and/or please the world? NEVER!!!
Why is the church so afraid to speak about gender, about Biblical marriage between one man and one woman, about the value of human life in the womb, about sexual perversion curriculum in our schools, about a government that is destroying our nation and driving toward a one world government and/or the out of control pedophilia or about the rising number of people being delivered from demons, or even mentioning the name Trump?
The church is called to be salt and light, in an hour of deep darkness. We’re not simply here to save souls! We’re called to make disciples of nations!!! We are called to fight against the decay, as salt, and shine brightly against the dark and wicked backdrop of the world, as light! We are meant to be His hands, feet and mouth in the world. We are not called to simply provide sanitized entertainment making attendees feel better about themselves. We’re called to be a voice for the voiceless. We’re called to be speaking up in this hour. If we don’t, who will? Like the church in Germany in the 1930’s will we seek peace with the world to our own demise (or worse, our children’s), or will we will make a stand, even if it costs us something or even everything?
Unless we, the church, stand in this hour, who will?
Ask God to release a fresh boldness upon His people in our city. Ask Him to shake up the religious and the worldly strongholds in our churches. Cry out for the Holy Spirit to fall on our pulpits and pour out a fresh anointing to preach the word of God with confidence, even if it makes people (that is, their flesh) uneasy. Cry out that the church in our city would be light and salt in this hour. Pray for your pastor to be fully awakened to the Holy Spirit and to lead with a fresh clarity of vision. Ask God to awaken you on how to cry out against the wickedness in our nation and city! May the Church in Athens become the salt and light that Jesus desires us to be!
