“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)
We are a part of a family that exists both on earth and in heaven (Ephesians 3:15). Our joining the Holy Spirit in prayer brings us into agreement with heaven. We are co-laborers with heaven (1 Corinthians 3:9). Our great cloud of witnesses is not just a figure of speech. I believe those in heaven who are still battling with and for us on earth! This great cloud is co-laboring with us!
There are things we can do here that cannot be done in heaven. It is like there are switches on earth that need to be turned. Prayer is part of God’s way of accomplishing His will on earth. Without prayer, heaven is not released on earth. I even imagine there to be prayer and praise gathering’s in heaven as we gather to pray and praise on earth.
Ask God for a greater grace to pray in the Spirit and in agreement with heaven! Ask Him to show you how to lay aside every weight and sin that trips you up and distracts you from pressing in to God in prayer! Ask God to bring a new level of heavenly partnership in prayer gatherings in your church and across our city! May God release a greater level of endurance to run the race that is set before us today!!!
