“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, My Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as My followers, I am there among them.”
Matthew 18:19-20 (NLT)

The prayer of agreement is quite powerful. It is an expression of unity, of which God richly blesses (Ps 133). As we agree on earth, God responds from heaven releasing the powerful answer. Right now, there is much prayer going on in our city. And it is very focused, united and fervent. There is a real sense of expectancy!!! With PrayUGA, nearly 2000 people are crying out daily for specific students at UGA. This is truly amazing. See below under PrayUGA for some more specific details. And this month we are ramping up the prayer for The Mix, which will happen at the end of February with several thousand middle and high school students from around Athens converging at The Classic Center. The whole purpose of The Mix is to provide a context for churched kids in our city to invite their unchurched friends to come and enter into a relationship with Jesus. That is something we totally can agree upon! Please join us this month as we ramp up our praying in agreement for God to do awesome things in our city, especially in the lives of middle school through college students.

Here are some great opportunities to agree with others in prayer for our city this month.

Whether you have never been on a prayer walk before, or you’re a veteran intercessor, or like most of us somewhere in-between, you are so welcome to join us as we walk, talk and pray for an open heaven over UGA, across Athens, and beyond.

Athens Intercessors Community
Monday, February 10 / 7 to 9pm
APN Prayer Center

Though this is not a closed group, it is definitely not for everyone. Athens Intercessors Community is specifically for those who are intercessors in Athens (whether veteran, new at it or even sensing God may be leading you that way), to come together, connect, network, get equipped and pray for and with each other. This is a very strategic monthly calling together of intercessors from across Athens to hear what God is saying and showing them, and to pray for each other. Watchmen are taking their place on the walls in our city, and our unity is vitally important as we move through 2020. If you’re interested in being a part of it, please let me know.

Pastors Prayer
Wednesday, February 12 / 9 to 10am
Living Hope – 2150 Lexington Rd, Athens 30605

God calls unity a beautiful thing, something that He commands a blessing over. The unity that God has established in Athens is a truly beautiful thing. On the second Wednesday of each month we meet up to share our lives and pray with and for each other. Please use this opportunity to pray for the pastors in our city, starting with your own! Pray that God would guard and deepen the unity He has already established in Athens. Ask God to abundantly bless, refresh, encourage, protect and provide for your pastor, their marriage and their family. Ask God to meet each of these lead shepherds across Athens right where they are, and give them all that it takes to stay connected to God and run strongly in this exciting year. Ask God to prepare them for what He is about to do in our city!

Groups Pastors Prayer
Wednesday, February 19 / 9:30 to 10:30am
Athens Church – 10 Huntington Rd., Athens 30606

On the third Wednesday of each month several of those who lead the small groups ministries at their church in our city come together to share life and pray for each other. Groups provide the best context for growth, community and life to happen. Please pray for those who lead the groups ministries in our city. Pray for the groups’ leaders to lead well. Pray for people in the groups to be willing to share their lives and be open to grow. Pray that the groups ministries in Athens would be healthy and strong! Pray that God would raise up more group leaders for the next season coming up. Ask God to protect and expand this vital ministry in our city. Ask Him for His open heaven over every group that meets in Jesus’ Name in Athens!

Executive Pastors Prayer
Thursday, February 20 / 9 to 10am
Grace Fellowship – 1120 Malcom Bridge Rd, Bogart, GA 30622

The leaders who “run” churches are usually hidden doing their thing behind the scenes. Every month on the third Thursday we come together from across Athens to share and pray for and with each other. Please pray for the executive / administrative pastor (or those who do that role) in your church and the others who carry this load in the churches across our city. This is such a vital ministry! Ask for an open heaven over their lives! Pray that God would give them wisdom from above and supernatural joy as they keep the systems operating smoothly and effectively (or set up new ones) for Kingdom growth in Athens. Pray that God would increase His presence and favor in their lives and homes. Pray that God would give them what they need to be prepared for what’s coming.

The Pre-Mix Prayer Gathering for Volunteers
Sunday, February 23 / 1:45 to 2:15pm
Athens Church (High School area) – 10 Huntington Road, Athens 30605

A big part of the success of The Mix are the volunteer leaders who come from each church. These folks are the front line, who will be spending the weekend with students. They will have one on one and group time with their students throughout the weekend. They will have deep conversations, some in the middle of the night! The Pre-Mix Prayer Gathering is specifically our opportunity to pray with and pray for these volunteers (including host homes, drivers and group leaders). Praying people, parents and pastors, please join us for this brief, yet intense and fast-moving prayer time with this army of leaders who are coming to The Mix.

The Mix Student Pastors Prayer and Final Briefing

WFBC – 1610 Simonton Bridge Rd, Watkinsville 30677

On the Eve of The Mix every student pastor comes to get their final briefing, the t-shirts for their group and to pray one last time together before The Mix commences the next day. Please be praying for the student pastors you know, starting with the one’s from your church.

The Mix Prayer Watch
Friday, February 28 – Saturday, February 29 / 11am to 11pm
The Classic Center – 300 N Thomas St, Athens 30601

Throughout the duration of The Mix we have a prayer room open onsite at The Classic Center to pray for the students and leaders who are at The Mix. Teams from each church who have students at The Mix (as well as some others groups) will be facilitating ONE HOUR slots starting at 11am Friday and wrapping at 11pm Saturday. This 36 hours of power packed prayers of agreement definitely sets the tone for The Mix. If your church is bringing a team for a specific ONE HOUR slot you come as part of it, or you come at any time during the hours its operating… BUT PLEASE COME & PRAY!!! Your prayers do and will have a tremendous impact.

Join us in praying for every student (literally several times) to be revived, awakened & transformed, for hundreds of students to meet Jesus for the very first time, for student ministries across Athens to be injected with new life and that every campus in our city would experience a spiritual seismic shift because of The Mix!

I’ll post the exact room and directions, once they are nailed down!

Ongoing and inspirational…
