Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)

Prayer is meant to be a partnership with God. In fact, He has provided us on-the-ground, real-time support. The Holy Spirit is necessary to be effective in prayer. Both Paul and Jude wrote that we are to pray in the Spirit. Elsewhere we see that the Spirit actually helps us in our weakness (Romans 8:26). You see, as that passage says, we really don’t know how to pray and need divine assistance. And He does help us, big time! But how often do you ask the Holy Spirit to help? And are you praying “in the Spirit at all times?”

Jude tells us that we build ourselves up in the most holy faith when we pray in the Holy Spirit (Jude 1:20-21). Here it is pretty clear that praying in the Spirit is praying in tongues! So, praying in the Spirit is not just for the warriors, but for all who want to build up their faith and be more effective as a person of prayer!

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you pray, and ask Him for it at all times and on all occasions. If you’re not already doing this, every morning, ask Him to fill you, empower you and pray through you throughout the day! If you don’t pray in tongues and would like to, ask Him to release this grace in your life, and keep asking until you receive it! Bless you as you grow in praying in the Spirit at all times!
