“And when David and his men came to the city, they found it burned with fire, and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.” 1 Samuel 30:3 (ESV)
In the darkness of night, David returned home, exhausted, to find his people had been raided by the enemy. Their village was burned down, the women and children had been taken, plus all their possessions were gone! The men, these are David’s mighty warriors, wanted to kill him, but David found strength as he sought the LORD. David asked of the LORD whether he should pursue these plunderers and would they overtake them? The LORD said pursue and you will succeed in the rescue! And indeed, David and his men recovered all. It says, “Nothing was missing” (1 Samuel 30:19). Undoubtedly this included more than what they previously possessed.
We live in that hour! We are weary, it’s dark, many want to give up, and perhaps turn on us! But God is saying pursue the enemy and we will win. And not only will we overtake them, we will recover all, and more!
Right now, find new strength as you seek the Lord! Lay before Him every loss you have experienced over these past few years (and beyond). Ask Him to lead you to the enemy’s camp and to restore everything that the enemy has stolen, killed and destroyed in your life, your ministry, your family and your church! Pray for your pastor to find new strength in the Lord in this hour, to rise up and fight the good fight of faith, and to prepare for the harvest!
