“How you hate honest judges! How you despise people who tell the truth!” Amos 5:10 (NLT)
The word is clear that in the end times there will be a strong deception over people, and if possible, even the elect will come under it (Matthew 24:24, 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). We are told that “evil men and imposters will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).
Truth has always been at the forefront of the battle. From the Garden where the serpent said, “Did God really say…?” (Genesis 3:1), to Pilate asking, “What is truth?” (John 18:38), truth has been at the heart of the struggle. When there is no truth to stand on, people get caught into every wind of doctrine that blows past them. When we reject the truth, we set ourselves up for such deception as we are seeing today. Hosea prophesied that people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, or for not embracing the truth (Hosea 4:6). Isaiah prophesied of a time when truth would nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil will become prey (Isaiah 59:15). Jeremiah prophesied of a nation that has not obeyed the LORD, or responded to His corrections because truth has perished and completely vanished from their lips (Jeremiah 7:28). And all this was/is not pleasing to the LORD! And it sounds like today!
Even George Orwell once wrote, “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.” Nevertheless, the Lord is looking for a people whose walk is blameless, who do righteously, and speaks the truth from their heart (Psalm 15:2). He is looking for a people, a remnant, who will continue to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), even if it means people hate us, arrest us, flog us, and even put us to death (Matthew 10:17-22).
We all know that truth will set us free, but it requires accepting the truth and applying it to our life. Tolerating truth is not good enough! The demons “believe,” yes they know the truth and shutter (James 2:19), but that does not save them! We can tolerate, even believe a truth, but it must be “put on” to set us free. Are you willing to see the truth, the full truth and receive it, even if it offends you?
Even the kind of worship the Lord is looking for is in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:23-24). Yet too many are worshiping a God made in their own image! They limit what God can do in their gatherings. They worship God with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him (Isaiah 29:13, Matthew 15:8). They may sing “worship” songs in a church service but actually not even closely come to worship Him.
Btw, Jesus is Truth (John 14:6)! When we reject Jesus, when we rebel against His word, we are spurring truth, and embracing falsehood, lies and deception. This is the day we are living in. And the battle continues to be about the truth, Jesus! In a day where truth is nowhere to be found, be a beacon of truth. Let your life, your words, and everything about you shout the truth, even if it costs you! And as St Francis of Assisi said, “Preach the gospel always, and when necessary use words!” Let your life preach the truth!
Declare that your life is a beacon of truth, that you are one who lives and walks by truth. Ask God to expose and remove every lie, deception and place where truth is not being lived out in your life. Ask Him to give you boldness to live the truth and to speak it out in love. Pray that the eyes of our city and nation would be open to the truth, to see it, to embrace it and to cast off the lies, the narrative, that we have believed. Pray that judges and governmental leaders who do not operate in truth be exposed and removed from their positions of authority in our nation, at every level! Pray for truthful leaders and judges to replace them and to re-establish our nation upon truth.
