“Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is he one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.” Proverbs 29:18 (NIV)
Both revelation and information are necessary! But revelation is much more important for without it, people perish. God reveals Himself through revelation! Revelation is from God and feeds our spirit man. In fact, our spirit yearns for revelation. The Bible, words of knowledge, dreams, visions and prophecies are forms of revelation. Revelation has to do with revealing God Himself and that which is not seen. Revelation often brings something new. The Apostle Paul tells us to ask God for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we could know Him better (Ephesians 1:17). Revelation comes from sitting, waiting and seeking God.
Information is from man, it comes from the earth and feeds our flesh. Information includes self-help stuff. Our flesh man yearns for information. Man craves it. When there is a crisis, when we feel out of control, we find ourselves filling up on information. Usually we can’t get enough, even if it isn’t true. Yet the reality is, it never satisfies! We live in a day where knowledge has increased, just as the Prophet Daniel said it would (Daniel 12:4). Strongholds include information, human reasoning, intellectual arguments that are contrary to the word of God. The Apostle Paul calls it anything “that sets itself up against the knowledge of God” (2 Corinthians 10:5). Most of what the mainstream media spew is false information, and only leads to deception and confusion. Ask God to give you a clear dividing line, a new level of discernment, between revelation, true information and what is fake or false information. Ask Him for a greater hunger for revelation. Ask Him how to decrease your information input and increase your revelation. Ask Him to move upon your pastor to preach more revelation and less information, more about God and less about helping people feel happier or better about themselves. Ask God for a greater revelation of Him to be released across our city! And as we wind down our year, ask God for revelation, wisdom and clarity concerning 2022!
