You are the salt of the earth, but if salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be throw out and trampled by men.” Matthew 5:13 (NIV)

It is said the definition of insanity is to continually do the same thing expecting different results. The bottom line is, we reap what we sow! What brought the church to where it is today, an impotent lukewarm reflection of who we are meant to be, will only be maintained if we continue to do what we have done the past fifty years. So, what got you to where you are today will not take you higher. It is a day to allow God to teach His people to look like Him instead of the world. We are meant to be salt, but our saltiness has been lost. We cannot keep doing the same, passive thing and expect our nation, city, church, let alone family, to be saved! We are in an hour where we must change the seeds we are planting.

It is a day where we must stop seeking to make people happy and entertained in our brief highly controlled and comfortable services. It is a day where the Word, from beginning to end, needs to be preached from the pulpit without excuse, where sin must be called out and the Holy Spirit invited and not just to visit for a few moments. It is a day where instead of fog machines and flashing lights in dark rooms, we need to cry out for God’s presence to fall in our gatherings revealing His glory cloud, and the brightness of His throne in our midst! When the real thing comes we will no longer need these props. It is a day where the Holy Spirit is absolutely needed and passionately welcomed in everything we do!

Ask God to show you things in your own life that used to work, but need to be jettisoned in this new season. Ask Him for His new strategies in your life and for your family. Cry out for your pastor to be willing to truly seek the Lord about what is needed to grow His church in this season, including what needs to be thrown out and what needs to be started (i.e. if your church does not have a comprehensive prayer ministry it is definitely time to start one). Ask God to grant us His new strategies to build His house of prayer across our city!
