“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 (ESV)

I once lost a silver Holy Spirit dove necklace on the beach in Australia. I prayed that God would lead me to it. I searched and searched, but couldn’t find it. Nevertheless, I kept looking. I think it was three days later I was walking down the trail to the beach and my eye saw a glitter in the sand, just off the trail. There it was! How it didn’t get covered over, or picked up by someone else, is definitely a divine doing. Likewise, God desires for us to seek Him, constantly, diligently, until we find Him.

James tells us that if we draw near to God, that is, seek Him out, and as we do He will draw near to us (James 4:8). He has already made a way to Him through Jesus. Jeremiah even mentioned this in the Old Testament that if we seek Him with our whole heart we will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13-14). The writer of Hebrews told us that if we seek Him diligently, we will be rewarded (Hebrews 11:6)!

All this to say, as we step into this new year, a new season of the open door, what if you made it your top priority to seek Him with all your heart this year? What do you suppose your life would be like one year from now? Seek Him with all your heart, as your first priority, and you will find Him!

Make it part of your intentional plan to seek Him more in 2024. As you take the time to seek Him, expect the unexpected, after all, we have never been this way before (Joshua 3:4-5)! Ask Him to reveal Himself to you in ways you have never seen, and to give you eyes to see Him, even if He shows up in a manner you have never experienced. Ask Him for the faith to take this coming revelation knowledge and go deeper in Him (Ephesians 1:17). Ask Him for the grace to become a wholehearted seeker, a lover of Him in 2024. And now thank Him for what He is going to reveal about Himself to you this coming year!!!
