“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 (NIV)
We are in the midst of an epic battle between good and evil, between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. We do not fight as the world fights, whether physical or demonic! God has given us something more powerful! The battle is real, though much of it is in the mind. What we believe impacts how we act. What we believe impacts what we feel. And what we believe can be wrong and these become strongholds. Simply put, a stronghold is a mindset opposed to the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5). We allow what we see to be filtered through this stronghold. Truth can be right before us, but because of this stronghold, we miss it! Right now, there is a lot of misinformation flying around. Much of it is not true, but even that which is true is filtered through these strongholds and keeps us from understanding or receiving the truth.
In this hour, cry out for God to show you the filters you look through. He has already given you the divine power to demolish them. But first you have to see them. Ask God to open your eyes to see beyond the veil of your strongholds, and take His truth to tear them down. Pray that for the church in Athens and across our nation. Cry out for God to show us the strongholds that need to come down, and then to give us the grace to destroy them!
Here’s how the NLT puts verse 4…“We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.”
