Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.” Ephesians 5:11 (HCSB)

Who in their right mind would drink water that is 99% pure and 1% toxic? No one, at least if they were aware of it! Yet we have allowed unbiblical beliefs to creep into our worldview. We so casually slip these things in without perhaps even realizing it. For example, I have heard and seen a witch, though she is very popular, used in worship services, settings and promotions in churches. I don’t even need to tell you her name as she is very well known. But her concerts are absolute wickedness, even demonic. Yet so many think it is not harmful to include unbiblical things in our worship services.

Syncretism is a dangerous thing. It is simply allowing the various threads in our culture to permeate in our belief system and to operate undetected in our churches. The Bible is the word of God. We cannot take or leave the parts we want or don’t like. We cannot add to it because something else fits better in today’s culture. Darkness is still dark and we are to have nothing to do with it. Paul was quite clear when he wrote “have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness” (Ephesians 5:11). Last I heard, nothing means, well NOTHING. That’s the absence of something. When we use darkness in our services we are not obeying this word! We are defiling the house of God. We are clearly told not to bring leaven into the house of God (Luke 12:1-3), yet Sunday after Sunday, what do we do? We spice up our services with the leaven of the world! And not just our services, but we allow the world into our homes through the movies we watch, the music we listen to and the things we read. Our children are drinking these toxins because, well, they are popular and they taste good to the flesh. It is time to stop partnering with darkness!

Please, PLEASE seek the Lord, asking Him to show you any and every place you can allowed the world into your thinking, into your home. Ask Him to show you even the innocent looking things that from your perspective is not harmful, but from His perspective is dangerous. Ask Him for greater discernment in this hour. Also ask for the faith and courage to deal with these things when He shows them to you. Ask Him to reveal to your pastor where he is allowing the world, the flesh and the devil into your church, especially where it looks innocent!
