His head and hair were white like wool—white as snow—and His eyes like a fiery flame.” Revelation 1:14 (HCSB)

Recently at AHOP, we were worshiping in a song that declared His eyes are as of fire, His hair white as wool and His voice like a rushing water, “Jesus You’re beautiful!” At that moment I realized that Jesus’ beauty is terrifying! As I gazed upon this picture of Jesus, in my mind, from the Book of Revelation, beautiful wasn’t the only word that emerged. It’s a terrible beauty, an awesome attraction! I want more, but it will kill me! I’m drawn in, but I can’t handle it!

The bottom line is, we’re attracted to Him but we’re terrified of the rawness of His glory, of His holiness! His presence is amazing, but remember He is an all-consuming fire! To be drawn in, to get close, to gaze upon Him, we must be ready to be “consumed!”

Ask Him for the grace to draw near to Him! As it may cost you everything, tell Him you willingly lay it all on His altar. Say YES to Him, no matter what He says. Ask Him to reveal more of Himself to you, even His terrifying beauty! Tell Him you willingly offer yourself as fuel for Him to consume, however He desires. Thank Him for making Himself known to you, in ever increasing ways!!!
