“For although we live in the natural realm, we don’t wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve our aims. Instead, our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defenses behind which people hide.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 (TPT)

Though it is a known biblical truth, it would seem that it is a hidden mystery. The bible is very clear: We can’t fight the flesh with worldly weapons! Yet, how many of our church growth strategies are simply the world’s techniques cleaned up and applied into our church services. These strategies may draw crowds but will not grow His Spirit-filled church. We can’t fight the devil with his weapons, nor can we build the Lord’s house with the tools of the world. God has given us something so much better, more powerful and effective! We must rely on the spiritual weapons that have been given us. These weapons are not of the world. David came at Goliath with a sling and a few stones, AND the name of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies (1 Samuel 17:45)! There is no way this young man stood a chance fighting the giant on his own terms!

In the light of fear, God says put on faith. In the light of anxiety, God says put on peace. In the light of needing to feel good after a church service, God says put on holiness. When the flesh desires to be comforted, follow Jesus’ command to deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow Him. Instead of flashing lights, fog machines and special effects, cry out for the Holy Spirit to show up and show off God’s glory in our church services. All those props will be just a mist compared to the real thing of God’s presence!

That which is sown in the Spirit will bring forth spiritual fruit. That which is sown in the flesh, whatever that may look like, will only bring forth more of the flesh! That is what it means that we will reap what we sow! That is a biblical reality!

“The harvest you reap reveals the seed that you planted. If you plant the corrupt seeds of self-life into this natural realm, you can expect a harvest of corruption. If you plant the good seeds of Spirit-life you will reap beautiful fruits that grow from the everlasting life of the Spirit.” Galatians 6:8 (TPT)

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you any strategies or weapons of the world that you depend on. Repent and turn from them. As you take off the flesh and its methods, put on the Spirit and His methods. You will bear fruit of the Spirit if you sow into the Spirit!  Pray for your pastor and church leadership to seek God’s ways, strategies, methods and arsenal. Pray that God would prepare your church to be ready to be for vessel of and for His glory! Revival is quickly approaching. It is not too late to make the change and sow into the Spirit!
