“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put Me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.” Malachi 3:10 (ESV)
Money is a very sensitive issue! Many will probably pass over this post because it has to do with giving and specifically “tithing!” But the reason it is so touchy is because it is THE issue. Where your money, or treasure is, that is where your heart will be (Matthew 6:21). Your money actually demonstrates where your faith is. How you give and handle your money also determines how much blessing you are able to receive from God (Luke 6:38)! Actually, God desires to bless you tremendously, but He can’t/won’t if money has a hold on you! Consider the tithe…
The tithe is a percentage of one’s income, to be precise, it is ten percent! God never told us to give a specific amount, but by making it a percentage everyone can and should do it. A tenth of one dollar is ten cents, so children can be taught to tithe. To be a tither, that is, one who regularly gives the full 10% of all their income, releases much blessing in their life. God promises to open the heavens and pour out so much blessing that there is no more room for it. It goes on, in the next verse, God promises to rebuke the devourer and He will cause us to be fruitful! We can all use the devourer being rebuked from our lives, especially right now!
Let me just say, there are not many places where God invites us to test Him! So, have you tested God on this promise to bless those who tithe? You cannot, or will not receive these tangible and promised blessings unless you become a tither. Obviously, to tithe regularly requires faith, and that is the point behind it!!!
If you are not yet tithing, commit before the Lord that you will make it right, even today! There are many interpretations about what the storehouse is. I honestly do not believe it is simply your local church. It has to do with where you are being fed! I believe it can be Christian ministries that you believe in and partner with. It can be a church that you regularly get from fed on line. And of course, it can be your local church. In fact, the tithe can be broken up into many places, but there is a commitment to do it every month to these specific “storehouses.” But the point is, and please understand this, to receive God’s best blessing, you must be a tither. There is no option B regarding this!
Thank the Lord for the privilege and blessing it is to give your tithe. Rejoice in it and when you give it, thank the Lord for the blessings He will release in your life. Thank Him for rebuking the devourer! Thank Him for the abundant blessings that are coming! And remember, God invites you to test Him in this!!!
