“Jesus said to them, ‘Can the wedding guests be sad while the groom is with them? The time will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.’” Matthew 9:15 (HCSB)
Jesus’ disciples were once criticized for not fasting like other rabbi’s disciples. Jesus replied that the friends of the bridegroom don’t fast when He is with them. But a day was coming when they would fast for His return (Matthew 9:14-15). Like Christ’s first disciples, we are to fast with prayer and worship, night and day, until the Bridegroom returns. This is what AHOP is all about! What about you, will you join us in the worship, prayer and the Bridegroom fast this coming year? Will join us at AHOP as we press forward in expanding hours? Would you consider committing getting involved at least once a week at AHOP in 2023?
Btw, the Bridegroom fast, is choosing to make fasting a lifestyle instead of something you do once in a while. Like choosing a day each week to go without food, or to not eat lunches during weekdays, or however the Lord leads you. But it must be intentional, a sacrifice and for Him! Many call this the fasted lifestyle.
Pray for more and more lovers of Jesus to join in the Bridegroom fast. Ask God to continue to pour out more of His fragrance, His presence and His glory in our midst at AHOP this coming year! Ask Him specifically, what part are you to play in the fast and the worship at AHOP. Ask God to place within our hearts a desperate longing for Jesus’ return. May we been consumed with an ache to be with Him as a bride longs to be with her bridegroom!
