For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 (NIV)

We are in the midst of an epic battle between good and evil, between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. Much of this battle is in the mind. What we believe impacts how we act. What we believe impacts what we feel. And what we believe can be wrong and become strongholds. Simply put, a stronghold is a mindset opposed to the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5). We allow what we see to be filtered through this stronghold. In this season there is a lot of information flying around. Much of it is not true, but even that which is true is filtered by these strongholds which keeps us from understanding or receiving the truth. As such, there is a blindness that hinders us from seeing the truth.

Here’s how the NLT puts verse 4…

“We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.”

Ask God to grant you the grace to use the weapons He has given you. Invite Him to demolish every lie and pretense that has set itself up in your mind. Obviously, these are blind spots. Once you see them be quick to renounce the lies and replace them with truth. Pray this for your pastor and church as well. Ask God to give His church in Athens eyes to see the truth and the faith to walk it out!
