“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3 (NIV)
It is taught that in the last days there will be a great apostacy, a falling away, where those who once looked like Christians choose to deny their faith and walk away. Many translations call it the rebellion, but the NKJV calls it the falling away! Jesus Himself said that in those days “because of the increase of wickedness the love of most will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12). Get that, the love of MOST! That’s a sobering thought.Today we are seeing a “falling away!” A recent Barna study revealed that one out of every three people who were involved in church before Covid are now not attending services in person OR online! They have simply disappeared, wandered off, fallen away! Another large percentage are still operating out of fear of Covid so are remaining away from in-person gatherings. After encouraging His disciples to pray and not give up, Jesus asked piercing question (Luke18:8), “when I return will I find faith on the earth?”In this season, be asking God for a grace to draw closer to Him. Please don’t allow the wickedness, the lawlessness, the lies being fed to us by the media and politicians, to allow your love for Christ to grow cold! Make sure your faith is growing stronger not weaker. Ask Him for a grace to hold onto Him, even when He seems distant, even absent. Our faith is being tested right now. How will you come out of this test? While you’re at it, please pray for your pastor and church to grow in their faith!!!
