In fact, you put up with it if someone enslaves you, if someone devours you, if someone captures you, if someone dominates you, or if someone hits you in the face.” 2 Corinthians 11:20 (HCSB)

Recently I had a dream where I walked into a large gymnasium at 9am to find rows upon rows of people I knew, Christians, asleep in sleeping bags. As I sang worship songs over them, they started waking up, but to my shock, they were all grumpy! They should have been awake already but had been asleep past the dawn of this new day. They had been lured to sleep, and simply gave into it. But it is time to wake up! This is happening both in the church and in our society as a whole. Btw, don’t expect those you wake up to be happy as they grapple with seeing how they had been standing on the wrong side! It is going to be a rude awakening for many!

It is time to stop enabling those who hate us, who want to destroy us, who desire to enslave us. Whether these haters are paid protesters, illegal immigrants or illegit governmental leaders, they do not have our nation’s best intention. Yet we tolerate them, we sleep on, as if our silent complicity will soften their hearts. But when you negotiate with terrorist, they will want more next time! But our quiet acceptance only reinforces their standing. We have been lied to for longer than we want to admit. We have been stolen from, and treated unjustly, as we sleep on the sidelines and watch our nation crumble. But it is time to stop standing with wickedness. It is time to reject the agenda to the enemy in our nation, in our city and churches. Yes, it has infiltrated much deeper than we can imagine, it must be exposed and removed! If it is against God’s word, we should not simply accept it for the sake of tolerance!

Paul wrote about Satan’s agents coming as ambassadors of light (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). These angels of light come to enslave us. Their intent is not for our good! Jesus warned of ferocious wolves sneaking into our flocks (Matthew 7:15). Likewise, Paul warned of these savage wolves would attack the church from the inside (Acts 20:29). Yes, there are wolves clothed like sheep, even shepherds who have masqueraded themselves as servants of righteousness. This includes those who are pastors, teachers, prophets, evangelist and apostles. We desperately need discernment and to have courage to act on what we see according to God’s word!

But today many are no longer even hiding their wicked agenda. The paid protestors on college campuses lift signs reading “Death to America.” Even politicians hate our nation and side with those who want to destroy it. Where’s the outrage by righteous people from these treasonous acts, oh yeah, they are asleep?!

Many churches have turned into cesspools of perversion, affirming homosexuality, even pedophilia. They even cover up for pastoral indiscretions, while many churches are simply worldly organizations that are sugar coated with a Biblical sounding message. Instead of lifting Jesus high, they themselves are lifted high. Yet people flock to these churches because they are fed sugary self-help sermonettes, fast food for a cheap price. The implication is come and feel better about yourself! The sheep have been deceived and simply follow to their destruction. But sadly, those who want to teach and live the word of God are now accused of being haters and deceivers because of not accepting the ungodly practices both in the church and in our world!

Nevertheless, it is time to wake up. It is time to flee Babylon (Jeremiah 51, 2 Corinthians 6:17, Revelation 18:4). It is time to stand up against evil and unrighteousness at every level. But let me conclude with saying, God is moving and His government will never cease to increase (Isaiah 9:7), whether we join in or not! Please do not sleep through the revival that is beginning to hit our shores, our nation, our cities and our churches. Many will not see it coming. And many will even call it fleshly and demonic (i.e. the cessationists)!

Paul exhorts us, “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” (Ephesians 5:13).

Cry out for God to fully awaken you, to fill you with joy, light and purpose in this hour. Ask Him to allow you to hate sin, evil, injustice and compromise. Ask Him for boldness to live as a shining light in a grossly dark world (Philippians 2:15, Isaiah 60:2). Ask Him to use you to awaken those who are asleep, cocooned in sleeping bags. Ask Him to grant you a grace to not be offended by the grumpy sleepers who are stepping into a rude awakening. Pray for your pastor and church to wake up fully and fight the wickedness that has infiltrated both the church and society. Cry out for the Church to no longer tolerate being enslaved by those who hate us!!! And thank the Lord for giving you the blessing, privilege and responsibility of being awake (Matthew 25:29, Luke 12:47)!
