“In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Psalm 56:4 (HCSB)
In God we trust! Yes, this straight forward, simple sounding command is even on our money! Trust God! Nevertheless, too often we trust the devil’s ability to hurt us, more than God’s ability to protect us. We trust the devil’s ability to deceive us more than God’s ability to lead us into truth. We trust what we see with our eyes and understanding in our minds over trusting God with all our heart (Proverbs 3:5)!
Obviously, to trust God requires faith. No wonder the author of Hebrews told us that it requires faith to please God and that God rewards those who diligently seek Him (11:6). If it was easy why would we be rewarded for it. Unless of course, God’s rewards are for everyone just for participating. No, God’s ways are not the world’s ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). What we do, and what we chose to trust in really does matter!
As we see crazy in the world right now, trust God! As it looks like darkness is overtaking the light, trust God! Darkness will not win. Nope, that will not happen! God does not lose. He does not do things the way we would, nor in our timing, but trust God!
In the day of overwhelming pressure of a huge enemy army breathing upon Judah, the prophetic voice said “Trust the LORD… and trust the prophets” (2 Chronicles 20:20-21). They did and God showed up big time! That’s the day we live in, and the message is the same, trust (have faith) in God and what His prophets are saying. Many have jettisoned the prophets because they appeared to be wrong in predicting Trump. Btw, they were not wrong! God is just doing things differently than we expected. Remember it requires faith to trust God and His prophets. His ways and thoughts are not like ours! That’s why Paul tells us not to despise prophecy (1 Thessalonians 5:20).
Ask God to show you any place in your heart where you are not trust God, or have despised prophecy in anyway. Ask God to refresh your pastor’s heart toward the prophetic and absolute trust in God. Ask God to forgive and cleanse you, your pastor and your church of every place you have not trusted Him or His prophets. Ask Him to release His word once again over your life, church and city! Ask God to release a grace in the church across our city to trust Him and His prophets!
