“Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be established; believe in His prophets, and you will succeed.” 2 Chronicles 20:20 (ESV)

We cannot throw this passage out just because we have not seen many of the prophetic words over this past season fulfilled (or at least as we understand them). Paul warns us not to put out the Spirit’s fire, and to not hold prophecies in contempt. Instead we are to test everything and hold on to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21). We must be careful not to throw out, or despise prophecy just because it hasn’t been fulfilled as we thought it should, or in our timetable. The prophets did not get it wrong as many say!

Nevertheless, a prophet is not considered false if they get it wrong now and then. A false prophet is one who intends to lead others astray. The enemy wants us to throw out the prophets, because then he can continue to do as he pleases. The church needs the prophetic ministry. In fact, today we need the five-fold gifts of the Holy Spirit operating in the church!

Word says if you trust the word of the prophets you will succeed. To succeed means to prosper, to experience prosperity. God intends for us, for you to succeed this year, but it requires you trusting the Lord and His servants the prophets (Amos 3:7).

As we press into this new year, take the prophetic words that have been given for 2022 and begin praying into them. Thank the Lord for His prophets, a precious gift He has unveiled for His Bride! Ask the Lord to give you understanding, discernment and wisdom into what He is saying for 2022. Ask Him to show you your part in it. Pray for your pastor to have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church, and to your church!
