“Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.” 2 Corinthians 3:12 (NIV)
Boldness is defined as a willingness to take risks and act innovatively; with confidence or courage (Oxford Languages). Not too long ago I was praying with Travis Gay, pastor of The Awakening, and the Lord lead us to focus our prayer for boldness in the church. This boldness was two-pronged! Specifically, God led us to pray for boldness in outreach and boldness in approaching the throne of grace!
In the Book of Acts we find the testimony saying that they prayed, the room shook, the Holy Spirit filled everyone and sent them out with boldness to proclaim the Gospel (Acts 4:31). We can go out with boldness because of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 4:16 tells us approach the throne with confidence and boldness. We can come into the Father’s presence with confidence because of Jesus Christ.
As we begin building Athens House of Prayer (AHOP), it is our desire to see this boldness released, increased and impacting the city! We are looking to bring worship/intercession into partnership with evangelism. Please join us in crying out for God to create a space of day and night worship and prayer that release holy boldness across our city. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with a new boldness to approach the Throne of Grace with confidence, as well as a boldness to shine and live for Christ in the world. Pray for your pastor and church to be gripped with a new sense of boldness in these areas. Pray that more and more churches, pastors, worship leaders, musicians and prayer folks would begin to connect with AHOP as we launch forward!
AHOP is now happening every Thursday night at 7pm. Please join us when you’re able and get it into your new rhythm! AHOP is hosted at 660 W. Broad, Athens 30601.
