“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:3 (NIV)

Though unity is important, we are not told to unite with everyone, even everyone who calls themselves Christian or has the name church on their building! Our unity is much more intentional, more focused, more specific! We’re instructed to do whatever it takes to maintain the unity of the Spirit! Yes, it is all about the Spirit! Yet today there is a huge divide between the Spirit-filled, Spirit-empowered and Spirit welcoming churches and those who are not. And I can see that in the days ahead those who deny the Spirit is operating today in power, signs and wonders, will resist and even come against those who do. That is what has happened historically! And that is why we must do whatever it takes to maintain unity of the Spirit, and not just the unity of the church.

Ask God to stir His true church, His ekklesia in our city to do whatever it takes to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ask Him to lead pastors to make every effort, to be eager, to be diligent for this unity, starting with your pastor! Ask God to prepare His people for the persecution that will come from within the church when revival bursts out!  Ask God to prepare you to be one who will make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace in the days that lie before us!
