“Will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go look for the one that wandered off?” Matthew 18:12b (NIV)
Who is the one of 99? Many today have wandered and have become the one that Jesus is searching for! There once was a vibrant faith, but something happened. Trauma, disappointments, Covid, hurricanes and other storms in their lives, with seemingly unanswered prayer, heart breaks, etc. Where is the faith they once had? Where is the faith YOU once had?
I believe it is time for the ‘ones’ to come back into the fold! May they be found! May they see that not all that glitters is valuable. May they see that all the fame of the world is but vapor! May they see success as the world defines it is actually empty, hollow and does not satisfy. What matters is having a meaning in life beyond ourselves! What matters is being connected to others who have a passionate faith. What matters is living for something bigger than ourselves, and yet understanding that God has each of us here, right now for a reason.
Ask the Lord to show you where your faith has been eroded away, where you don’t believe like you use to. Ask Him to ignite your faith once again, and for it to be contagious to all those around you. Pray for the ‘ones’ you know who have wandered, who are not where they were two or three years ago. Pray that their eyes would be opened to the lure of wealth, fame and success as the world defines it. Pray that prodigals would come flooding back to the faith. Thank Him for not giving up on them until they are found and brought back into the fold.
