Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, ‘I believe; help my unbelief!’” Mark 9:24 (ESV)

In the movie Field of Dreams, a baseball field is built in the middle of corn country. It was extravagant and wasteful! In fact, they were going to lose the farm! At one point the brother was trying to get them to come to their senses, as they watched a baseball game going on that the brother couldn’t see. Then an accident happens, and the daughter needs emergency help. Out of nowhere a doctor appears, who had been a player on the field. And suddenly the brother, who once was blind but now he saw, asked where did all the people come from. He couldn’t see it until he believed it! Seeing is not believing, rather believing allows us to see!

What you believe determines what you’ll see. I recently heard Johnny Enlow sharing that people usually only prophesy within the framework of their belief! Likewise, if someone doesn’t believe in miracles, they often won’t believe it even if it happens right in front of them.

I was recently asked why demons and overt spiritual warfare doesn’t happen as much in America as in developing nations. I replied, it does but most Americans don’t believe it so they ascribe it to other things. Demonic activity and overt wickedness driven by spiritually surrendered people is blatantly happening in our nation!!!

Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see, your ears to hear and your mind to understand His ways, His thoughts, His purposes and His desires! Ask Him to enlarge the tent pegs of your beliefs, to remove falsehoods, strongholds, obstacles and limitations in what you believe. Ask Him to allow you to know the height, depth, width, and length of His unknowable love, and the secrets of His heart.  Pray this for your pastor and church. May the church across Athens have eyes to see, ears to hear and a mind to perceive what God is doing and has in store for our city and beyond!
