“And everyone assembled here will know that the LORD rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the LORD’s battle, and He will give you to us!” 1 Samuel 17:47 (NLT)
Though the battle belongs to the Lord, we still have to show up. In fact, it is in our showing up that He actually fights. The young boy David, though he could declare that the battle was God’s, he still had to face Goliath. Not only did he face him, but he ran to the front line declaring the supremacy of the God of Israel! His faith allowed God to fight for him!
When the Israelites were complaining of their imminent death, Moses responds saying; “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:13-14). The Egyptian army was breathing down on one side and the Red Sea blocked them from moving on. They were stuck and without the Lord they were indeed dead! But as they stood still they witnessed God’s deliverance!
Jehoshaphat faced a terrible foe, totally out numbering his army. Their destruction was definitely what appeared to be the outcome. But they prayed and a prophet spoke up with this outrageous idea of sending the worshipers ahead of the army. He said, “Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15). Though the battle belonged to God, the people still had to show up and march out to battle as worshipers.
Joshua knew that the battle belonged to God when he obeyed the angel of the Lord and marched his people around Jericho, a city that was impregnable. But as they obeyed, God fought for them (Joshua 6)! What is impossible for man, is very possible for God (Luke 1:37), but we got to show up!
Today the message is the same. We face terrible darkness. Witchcraft, Satanism, anti-Christ agenda, murder, perversion, and other wickedness is so blatantly flaunted in front of our faces. But the battle still belongs to our God. He wants us to show up and obey! But He will fight for us. He is looking for a remnant who will wholeheartedly seek Him, walk with Him and be still before Him as He fights for us. Will you be one of His remnant?
Pray with me…
“Oh LORD, I thank You for reminding me today that the battle, the battle I personally face, is Yours. I will show up. I will be still before You and my enemies. I will not be afraid. I will trust You. I will obey You and “I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13-14).
