“The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them.” Psalm 2:4 (HCSB)
The nations rage. Kings and presidents conspire and plan for battle, but God scoffs at them (Psalm 2). It actually says “He laughs at them!” Ever wondered what His laugh sounds like? Does it shake the heavens? Does it make others join along? Does it cause His enemies to quake and flee? How simply ridiculous for man, even with the devil on his side, to think he can thwart any of God’s plans (Job 42:2)! It is the greatest joke of history, worthy of the biggest laugh ever!
Hear what the AMPC says… “He who sits enthroned in the heavens laughs at their rebellion; The Sovereign Lord scoffs at them and in supreme contempt He mocks them.”
Look at what happens after He laughs…
“Then in anger He rebukes them, terrifying them with His fierce fury.” Psalms 2:5 (NLT)
This is so relevant for today! Our world is in darkness, even thick gross darkness (Isaiah 60:2). The mountains shake and crumble into the sea. The oceans roar and foam. The nations are in chaos and their kingdoms are falling apart. Yet God says to His kids…
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
Have you noticed lately how many high-ranking leaders are resigning from their lofty positions around the world? Lots of them! They have schemed, planned and conspired against God, but have fallen so short of their desired outcome. Do they hear God laughing at them knowing He is about to release His fury against them?! Nevertheless, He says to us, be still, wait patiently, trust in Him and know He is God!
Take time to fix your gaze upon Him. One by one, lay aside the things that have grabbed your attention, your concern and lay them at His feet. Tell Him that you trust Him and will no longer lean on your own understanding or fear because of the way things seem. Pray for your pastor and church to not fret over the enemy’s apparent victories, but to trust that God is laughing and is about to move powerfully in our nation!
