For as he thinks within himself, so he is.” Proverbs 23:7a (NASB)

What we believe and say about God is the most important thing about us! Secondly, what we think AND speak about ourselves matters tremendously. Words have the power to bless or curse (James 3:10). Some of who we are is what we do, what we’re gifted at, what we have persevered in, what we are called into. But much of it is simply what God says about us. We may not feel a certain truth applies to us, but as we declare it, it will begin to take root in our heart. Here is what I regularly declare about who I am…

I am deeply loved and a lover, a father, a husband, a child of God, a part of the bride of Christ (Revelation 19:7)! I am a king and a priest (Revelation 1:5-6), appointed by the One who shed His blood for me (1 Peter 2:9). I am gifted (1 Corinthians 12:8-10), wise (James 1:5-8), and blessed beyond measure both presently and eternally (Ephesians 1:3). I am no longer under the law of sin and death, but under the Spirit and life (Romans 8:2). I am completely forgiven (Psalm 103:3), totally free, fully healed, delivered and absolutely whole. I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realm (Ephesians 2:6). I am holy, pure, faithful, righteous, compassionate, and self-controlled (Galatians 5:22-23). I am filled with peace, joy and confidence. I am a believer and obeyer of the word of God (James 1:22, John 14:21, 15:10). I am apostalic, prophetic, a leader, a servant and a lover of people (Ephesians 4:11). I am a craftsman, a carpenter, a breaker (Micah 2:13) and a builder (Psalm 127:1). I am filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). I am called, chosen, justified and sanctified (Romans 8:29-20). I am a receiver of all that God promised. I am strong and courageous (Joshua 1:5), full of faith, a warrior for God. I am a pioneer, a pilgrim, a sojourner (Hebrews 11:13), a pastor, a church planter and a missionary. I am in the world but not of it (John 15:19, 17:16). I am a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20), though a resident on earth, currently in Athens Georgia. I am an intercessor, a worshiper, a wholehearted risk-taking lover of God (Matthew 22:37) who helps others be the same! I am what I am by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-10)!!! Thank You Lord for making me who I am!

Who are you? Take time to make a similar list of who you are. Proclaim it, speak it, declare it out loud in faith. Thank the Lord for who you are and for His grace that is abundantly more than you can imagine!
